97 gas EZGO low power
Cart was running pretty good until two weeks ago. It seems to run fine in neutral, the clutches open up and belt goes all the way to the top. When in drive it doesn't reach near the RPM's as in neutral and the belt does not go to the top or even close, it will go forward and reverse though, just slower than normal and struggles greatly with hills. Valves are set at .004, new plugs, clean carb, new fuel pump. Compression is at 110-115 in both, not sure what is too low. The intake valves have more thread than the outer ones, adding a pic. What should I do next?

That is low . Maybe a better picture of those valves . It does look like they are sinking in head .

I still can't tell much from your picture. Can you take a close up like the one I am showing ? Does it look worse than this engine ?

I’ll take another one when I get home. It’s very similar to that one, maybe a little worse.

Make sure when you check the compression the throttle is all the way open on carburetor. I take my hand and hold it open when testing. |

Re: 97 gas EZGO low power
Pour half an ounce of 30 W oil into each cylinder and see if the compression increases. If it increases by 10 PSI or more, it indicates worn cylinder walls and/or rings. If no increase or little increase, that indicates valve problems. Replacing the valves isnt too bad. Easily an afternoon job.

Re: 97 gas EZGO low power
Just like the one I just bought. Runs great and for now I am using it but sooner or later I know I will have to replace those intakes .
