Default Workhorse 295 robin not much power

I have a workhorse with the 295 cc robin engine. I use the cart around the farm and for hunting. Been a great machine except I have ignition problem. Engine will stop firing until I pull off small wires on coil and touch them back to terminal while cranking motor Then it will start firing again. It may then run fine for a week or so then does same thing again. Don't want to spend a lot of money on this engine as I would rather replace it with a v twin Briggs that will pull the 22 inch tires better. What do you think is causing the ignition problem ? Which motor should I look at for a swap ? Currently looking at 16 hp Briggs. What shaft do I need to work with factory ezgo clutch ?

Hi I bet its just a bad wire I would replace the wire first. And as far as what motor for a swap Idk I'm looking in to a swap as well. But I think it has a 30mm tapered shaft but im not 100% on that.

Hope this helps.

It sounds like you just have a small electrical problem... I wouldn't think it would take a whole lot dollar wise to fix it.. As far as your power, its only rated at 9 hp... If power is what you want on those 22's then go with the big block.. Other than the cost of the conversion, you cant beat it. I did the head swap on my stock engine and have plenty of power, but I did spend a little to do it. Hope this helps.
