Max, Slo may be slow, but he's dead right!! Sorry Slo, just couldn't help it!!

Everything he said is your problem. Your homemade lift is just to far out of spec to handle correctly. Jake's don't make a lift higher than 6 inches. Any higher, and its just to top heavy. Yours is higher than that.

My suggestion is to get the $300.00 Jake's single A arm lift. Thats what I have on mine. Very happy with it! If you have tons of money and can afford it, get the long travel, $700+!

You will still need to acquire a pair of the S brackets, cause yours may be bent. But bet jake's has a pair.

Thanks Slo and Mike,

I agree and it is time I get this cart in 100% order. I will look into a new kit. That would be fun.

Mike are the S brackets that does not come with a kit normally? Are they universal or cart specific?

While I have your attention, perhaps I should start a new post, but I have another issue. The cart has never charged the battery and I have always used a trickle charger and have 2 batteries on board. When I bought the cart the guy told me the starter generator was bad. I have alwasy dealt with it bc I dont go long distances but have to keep it charged or it will die just sitting....or so I thought.

I did some reading the other night and started at the battery and used a voltage meter. I was getting about 12 V off each battery. I would then put the cart in neutral and start it and get it to idle, no problem. BUt after doing this a few times there wasn't enough power to turn the engine over and i just get that click and high pitch wheeze of the engine not being able to start up. So then I test the battery again, expecting it to be down a lot since it wont start, but it is still around 12 V!! Won't start. Then i put the charger on it and I can start it right up. Any thoughts on why the battery still has the same amount of juice but I can't get it started?

Then I looked at the wiring and noticed the SG was not plugged into the 2 cables hanging next to it that seemed to fit perfectly. I plugged them in. I then tested the battery. 12 V. Then started her up and got the RPMS up in idle and bam!!! The meter shoots up to 17/18V...is it charging? Why have I been living like this for 3 years? So my question is do you guys know off a reason why they would have disabled the SG? Once I get this lift fixed I can take it down the rd and drive in circles and see if she dies or keeps going:)

If this is not just an overlooked (just forgot to plug in thing). it may be fixed. 18 volts is a bit high, but run it awhile and see if the charging voltage starts coming down.

Possible bad voltage regulator, but wait on that.

Did you read the sticky; "So your Yami won't turn over"?

Also you know Yamaha's don't idle, If you let off the peddle, it stops the motor right?

Yes, when I said idle I meant I hold the gas down while it is in Neutral:)

When I let off the gas it shuts right down.

I spoke with a local golf cart engine mechanic and he said I prob have a bad voltage regulator. He said I should not be putting out 17-19 volts and that indicates the SG is doing it's job but the regulator is letting to much juice through which will cook the battery, probably why the guys before me unplugged it.

I am picking up a new regulator this weekend and will let you guys know.

I am also reading and reading as recommended.

The height increase with stock tires(larger tires add additional height as well). If you look at the front where your control-arms mount, the distance.from the original mount-hole to the relocated hole is the lift-height.
