If it is a series cart (Series wound motor), the most likely suspect is the reed switch.

If it is a PDS cart (Sepex motor), the most likely suspect is the controller.

You may have blown a fuse.

The reed switch is in the charging receptacle.....but EZGO has done away with it now so most of us have just bypassed it if/when it goes. below is a picture of it and how to bypass it.

Ezgo Reed Switch Bypass.jpg

IF your cart still won't charge or the solenoid won't click.....you have a problem in the solenoid activation circuit....which is highlighted in the diagram below....just find the fault.

Actually the reed switch was a fuse... The next "fuseable" link in the solenoid activation circuit is a pair of micro switches. These light duty switches can be blown like a fuse if a direct short is applied. There is one on each side of the ignition switch.
Depending upon which side of the ignition switch you shorted out, look at the ms on the driver side of the F&R switch (incoming side) or the pedal box micro switch (output side)

Hope this helps

Success! finally after 3 weeks of research, questions and frustration I found the problem. it was in the solenoid activation circuit where the green wire plugs into another green wire, I unplugged it plugged it back in and it works! after testing every switch, wire and connection it was that stupid plug, thanks for all your help i followed all advice and finally sorted it out!
