After a long ride.........
Today I decided to take my club car clear to the other side the jobsite via an equipment track a rough ride for sure but about 20 or so mins in I got a few pops and it quit would turn over but not start but pop a couple times other times start for 5 or 10 seconds and quit this went on for like 40 mins. I finally got on the radio called one of my guys to bring my truck and trailer and then to drag me out to the trailer. He did I hit the pedal one more time it started ran like it was suppose to and I drove it to and on the trailer and drove it off like nothing happened. Anybody have any ideas? overheat?

Re: After a long ride.........
All the bumps probably loosen some dirt in the fuel tank after it sit for awhile it settled and was able to run again..

Re: After a long ride.........
More info Maybe, I run 2 clear fuel filters between the tank and carb I'm pretty sure I looked at them at the time, it also has a new fuel pump and a new coil a fairly new carb (factory) and an FE350 clockwise with about 600hrs

Re: After a long ride.........
My guess?
All of the bumps made the carb float jump, shutting off the fuel, and the bowl wouldn't fill enough to supply the needed fuel to the engine. When it sat while waiting for the trailer... gravity refilled the bowl with fuel. |

Like I said... it's just a guess!
I don't really know how bumpy it was! Anything is possible! |

Re: After a long ride.........
Rest of the day ran as always but normally I'm only 10 mins here 10 mins there this was I think this was the longest runtime I have had since replacing the motor so I am not sure if it was the length of the run or as you say something like the float bowl. One thing I can say it engine/compartment did not seem abnormally hot as this was my first thought considering it was close to 90 degrees yesterday

Re: After a long ride.........
Well... If it were me?
(It's Friday, and I'd rather ride, then work! ) If I had time, and wouldn't be holding up any of the other crews, I'd take 2 trial runs to see if it would fail on 1 or both... 1) take a long run on a "not so bumpy" path, (if possible) and see if it fails. 2) take the same run, on the same path that it failed on and see if it fails again in generally the same area, if so... confirm the filters are full, and confirm you have spark, and sit and watch everyone else work for 10 to 15 minutes to see if restarts on it's own! I understand taking that much time out "just riding" may not be feasible on a jobsite, BUT? it may be the only way to find out what happened yesterday! |
