Speed Problem in DS
I'm new to the forum, please bear with me.
I have a 2002 DS 48v Series cart with a stock 3.1 HP motor. My Trojan batteries are 4 mos. old with 4g cables. I changed my Curtis 300 amp controller for a "Flight Systems" 700 amp controller. I was told the change would make my cart go faster than 13mph - I'm still going 13mph after install. Any ideas why? |

Re: Speed Problem in DS
Sounds like a speed sensor or MCOR to me.
700 Amp controller with 4 gauge cables and stock motor doesn't sound like an efficient set up. |

Re: Speed Problem in DS
What do you suggest? I see a lot of MCOR, what does that stand for?
I see the MCOR in my club car parts list manual. So the MCOR lets the motor know what the accelerator wants as far as power! Bear with me I'm learning. So with a controller that big I'm going to need 2g cables and possibly a larger motor? And what about the F/R switch, upgrade to HD? Last edited by Grin; 04-23-2017 at 09:57 AM.. Think we need to get more info first.
What is serial number of the car? Also try this test: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...nsor-test.html |

Re: Speed Problem in DS
MCOR is the
Motor Control Output Regulator Essentially it's the throttle assembly. But you have a series cart, I have very little experience with series... |

Re: Speed Problem in DS
No speed sensors on a Series cart.
You need to change the Motor to go faster. The only way a Controller with more amps can make a Series cart go faster is if You have bigger tires and are lacking the torque needed to spin them fast. |

Re: Speed Problem in DS
Do you suggest a 5hp motor? I really didn't want to drag race with it. LOL I just wanted to go about 17 -20 mph. I guess the shop guy I'm dealing with who is supposedly their electrical tech didn't know that!! Now I'm in the hole.
Bought 22" tires also but I'm afraid there's no enough torque to push that. |

Re: Speed Problem in DS
The bigger Controller should have increased the torque, the 22" tires will make your cart go faster.
Go ahead and install the tires, it may give You the speed increase you want. |

Re: Speed Problem in DS
I would assume to change the 4g cables on the batteries to 2g and get a HD F/R switch.
If I would have went with the 500amp controller like I had wanted in the 1st place would I have been in the same boat? |

Re: Speed Problem in DS
You'll need 2 gauge cables, heavy duty solenoid, a heavy duty F&R switch, and a high speed motor. I like the Admiral MOT-A1 motor for your application. It'll get you in the low to mid 20s for speed with plenty of power.
