Replacing cables
If I am going to replace my cables is is bad to do them part at a time?
I have a lot of 4 gauge wire in bulk and going to build my own. Im up at the cabin on weekends only and was going to do them in steps. should I wait and put them all on at once or is it ok to do one or 2 at a time? 2003 48V IQ cart |

Re: Replacing cables
You can do it parts at a time but you won't see an advantage until all are replaced

Re: Replacing cables
The best cables to do first are the 2 that go to the motor A1 and A2 as they carry 100% of the motor current 100% of the time.
The other cables only carry an amount of current proportional to the pedal position (actually Controller PWM percentage). Any cable you replace adds immediately benefit to the system as it has the potential to reduce the total circuit resistance, although You should replace them all for consistence. |

Re: Replacing cables
Just did my dads today (early fathers day gift) in 2 awg and was done in an hour and a half.
(Sorry Kash, I color-coded all his ends with color oriented heat shrink so I had to do black, blue, red, yellow, white and green and took me more time..... ) |

Re: Replacing cables
I love my dad and his cart is a '96 and he is 72, so if down the road he or someone else had to work on it, I did not want our gentle-giant (6'5") trying to chase me down as he traced out cables.....

Re: Replacing cables
NoleFan4Ever,
That is a great idea. I did my DS kit car, but just used all black cable, with red and black heat shrink tubing. Where did you find the buffet of colors for your shrink tubing? A flyer |
