1999 DS with all sports lift question
Ok I finally installed and replaced the cheap ebay lift I had on my 1999 DS.
I got the All sports lift from Tahoedawg to put on my sons cart project last fall but realized my lift kit was not as nice as the all sports I replaced it. My question is my old lift would turn sharp going left and right and I could get into some tight places. Now I wan to say it will turn sharp to the right but does not turn sharp to the left and when I am at the campground or in the trails is frustrating. I get about 1-1/2 turns right and about 1-3/8 turns left when I turn the wheel. Can I adjust for this or is this how the all sports DS lift is set up? When I switched lifts and hooked up the steering my wheel was off about a 1/2 a turn and maybe this is the problem and I have the rack and pinion out of adjustment? when I first started playing with it, limited on time I would just mess up my alignment. Any suggestions on where to start or is this the norm. Thanks Chad |

Re: 1999 DS with all sports lift question
I was able to adjust mine to 1-1/2 turn each way. I think all sports limit turning radius to keep people from turning cart over on steep turns. Thing is my precedent lift allows sharper turns.

Re: 1999 DS with all sports lift question
Adjust the drag link coming out of the steering box. If you go one way it'll turn further right, and if you go the other way it'll turn further left.

Re: 1999 DS with all sports lift question
I should un-hook the drag link from the steering on the lift? and adjust it and hook it back up? If I adjust it hooked up it will adjust my steering off center correct?

You don't need to unhook it. Just loosen the stop nuts. Note this will change the position of the steering wheel.

Re: 1999 DS with all sports lift question
Ok I may not be thinking about this correctly so please help me understand.
If you loosing the nuts on each side of the drag link and turn the center rod between them it acts like a turn buckle and shortens or lengthens the drag link. if that happens it turns the wheels to the left or to the right and this is what centers your steering? |

Re: 1999 DS with all sports lift question
Yes it's somewhat like a turnbuckle. "One side has right hand threads and one side has left hand threads. If you rotate the drag link it'll either get shorter or longer.
