Default Cart has trouble going but once it starts it moves fine

I don't know how to explain this very well so if there is anything I need to clarify, I'll gladly do so as long as I understand what you're asking me to clarify.

I don't know much about engines so please forgive me.

Okay, now that that is out of the way, here is my problem -

I have a very touchy gas pedal on my 1995 Club Car DS (recently purchased from an individual). It takes very little pressure on the gas to get it to start moving but if you push just a little bit too hard, it just sits there and kind of makes this putt putt putt sound like it wants to go but just doesn't. If I do find the "sweet spot" where it starts to go, I can give the pedal to the metal treatment and it runs just fine.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I've looked on the web for a fix but I don't know how to phrase the question correctly.

Does pulling the choke help or hurt? does it do this all the time or just when the motors cold?

It does neither help or hurt. If I don't hit the "sweet spot" with the gas pedal, it doesn't matter if I choke it or not.

It does this all the time. I played 27 holes on Saturday, had to get to the right point with the pedal each time I took off.

I am experiencing something similar with my 1994 DS.. It gets a little better when the motor warms up but when I come to stop sign and punch it, it just sits there. I have to feather the pedal gently and off we go. Pretty annoying.

I know this sounds silly to y'all but I'll bet the position of the pedal has nothing to do with what you are experiencing. Try this: push the pedal all the way to the floor each time you start. See if it takes off immediately at times and other times takes a second or two to turn over.

I tried this on the course over the weekend and it still sits there. Even after having played for a bit and letting the cart warm up a bit.

I was sitting there after the other guys teed off and went to drive off to their balls and while I WANTED to go to mine, I couldn't get the thing to move. It just sat there and I had to end up using my hand to gently touch the pedal until it started moving, then I could put my foot down.

If I pushed the pedal to the floor and it took off immediately at times and took a second or two to turn over at other times, what would be the fix for that? It's hard telling if that is another issue that I'm having...maybe it is...but I would certainly look into it if you have any suggestions.

I'm really trying to help but I can't until you try it. I can however assure you it makes no difference whether you use your hand or your foot. Take the cart out and try it. Report your findings back here. As always with these carts the first thing is to make sure you have a good, fully charged battery with clean snug connections.

Everything snug, battery charged, pushing the petal to the floor only resulted in the sputtering. Never taking off.

I've replaced the spark plug and the carburetor. My cart is now running well. I think I need to make minor adjustments to the carb but overall, it is doing really great now, thank you.

I had a problem with it backfiring and made an adjustment on the carb. Now I can hit the pedal to the floor and ol' girl will take off and run just fine.
