Do I need a fuse on the positive side of the battery pack, if so, what size fuse will I need?

Thanks

You can find these at any autoparts house. 50-60 amps will do.

Thanks. I just got a 1995 Medalist (series motor) and I've been trying to rewire it. The thing was an absolute mess. There is a tab on the terminal side of the forward reverse switch. from the wiring diagram I've been using, it looks like it goes to the the small terminal (black side) on the solenoid. Can you just tell me if that is correct.

Thanks,

Frank

Is it hot all of the time or just in reverse?

Not sure, I don't have batteries for the cart yet. I was going to use three 12 volt 15ah batteries just to test everything before I order the correct batteries.

The wire diagram does show what looks like an alternative (or some years) wire to the solenoid from the F&R lug. See attached

Scotty,

That's the exact diagram I'm using and that's exactly what I thought. Thank you very much. Should be ready to try the cart out this weekend. Once I get it running, I'll be upgrading the controller, F/R switch, solenoid and cables. Looking to run the cart on 48 volts as strictly a hunting vehicle. I'll be in touch really soon.

Scotty,

One other thing, If I choose to bypass that ignition interlock or Reed switch, should I just follow the wiring diagram for 2005 & up and connect that red wire coming off the F&R switch right to the B+?

Thanks,

Frank

Either that, or as many folks do, we just cut off the reed switch and put a ring terminal on the end of the white wire. Attach that where the red wire is currently connected.

I always thought it was interesting, the shape of the angled slot for the red wire. Notice it angles BOTH directions (forwards and backwards), almost as if some engineer knew these things would be bypassed.
