How to get more room between seat and steering wheel

Driveline u-joints typically have c clips on the caps on the inside of the yoke or snap rings on the outside the caps. After they are removed, the caps need to be pressed out. On smaller ones a large c-clamp and some sockets will work. Most of the steering u-joints I have seen have the yoke ears either crimped or tack welded to keep the caps from coming out and are not serviceable, but there is usually a set screw holding the shaft to the joint.

I was referring to getting the universal coupler off the output shaft of the steering column. I took the snap ring off under the steering wheel end and when I tried a pickle fork the entire shaft came out and I see it is welded to the output shaft. Now I have to find the coupler that will fir the tilt steering column (the column is a GM from 1969 to present) so I can get the column on. So freaking close but had to put it back together until that piece can be aquired
