Default Custom Forward/Reverse (FNR) Switch

I am about to stretch my 2014 Precedent and want to install a custom fnr switch on a sentry dashboard. Does the fnr switch need to be rated for 48v, or more precisely, the battery pack voltage? I want to replace the old school light switch and such so they all match. Something like the picture below.

The FNR switch is an ON/OFF/ON switch that doesn't carry a lot of current.
It is providing an input to the controller as to what the operator wants to do.
Most switches have ratings for the amps it can handle at different voltages.
I would think any switch could handle the FNR function.
If the switch is internally back-lit it would need to be 48v compatible.

If You are thinking in have a Carling Contura ON-OFF-ON type switch in that panel to function as FNR, You will need a DPDT 10 terminal switch with two independent lights like a VJD2-UXXB model.

You would use one side/pole for the Controller FNR function and the other side to toggle the corresponding 12v LED light.

You would need to order a custom actuator cover separately (about $10) , but that also allows you to customize the words and graph for each direction.

Thanks guys.

@Sergio - So even though the switch is rated for 12v 20amp, it will work? I measured 48v coming into the switch when I put it in Forward.

Here is model VJD2-UXXB as you suggested.
https://newwiremarine.com/product/on...dpdt-blue-led/

Nominal voltage: 12Vdc
Current Rating: 20A
Terminals: 10
Carling P/N: VJD2-UXXB
Lamp Type: Blue LED
Lamp Life: 100,000 hours

Yes it will work fine, as long as You don't exceed the switch maximum power rating (Voltage x amps), any 12v switch will work for this purpose.

Here is another source that also sells the custom actuator covers:

https://rockerswitchpros.com/product...itch-actuator/

I was thinking a Layout #3 with an UP arrow symbol and FWD in line #1 for the Top and a DOWN arrow symbol and REV in line #4 for the bottom.

There are lots of places that sell those type of switches, just make sure it has the 2 poles and independent lights so it will be easier to use 12v for the lights and 48V for the FNR

Can the 12v side also be used to run reverse lights?
