Run / Tow switch continuity in Run or Tow?

Well I am finally ready to help my brother put his cart back together, with a new controller. The last one worked, was removed for some Bob Boyce magic and then got fried on the re-install. We are trying absolutely everything possible to make sure this one does not get fried. I know the cart needs to be in tow to do this, but since he only had the cart for a week before removing the controller the first time we can't quite verify that the run/tow switch worked or wasn't installed backwards at some point (it sure looks like that would be easy to do).

The switch has continuity when it's in tow and continuity breaks when it switches to run. Is that correct? I've sen that unplugging that switch is the same as putting it in tow, but that wouldn't seem to match up with what I'm seeing on the continuity test.

There should be continuity across the switch in RUN.
No continuity across the switch in TOW

Ok, if that's the case this thing was installed backwards at some point, which would certainly explain the controller being fried the first time around. Lovely. At least we tested that before putting another one in.

Took me about 2 seconds to twist it so that Run was continuity and Tow broke continuity. Seems like an easy mistake any golf course wanna be mechanic could make.
