Is there any potential damage that could happen from having the precharge resistor on the solenoid since the xct doesn't need it?

So I called D&D today and read off the portion in the XCT manual about not using a resistor. He was very insistent that I not modify anything in the setup they gave me.

Got an email back from alltrax regarding the issue:
Controller doesn’t need it, but leaving it on doesn’t hurt anything. It’s just redundant because we built a precharge resistor into the tow/run circuit of the controller. |
