Default zerk fitting for front clutch

I have a standard grease gun and can lube the rear clutch without issue but the front clutch is tougher, the coupler has a hard time locking onto the zerk fitting because of the metal surrounding the fitting. Does anyone have any tips for lubricating the front clutch fitting?
