Default Have to hold choke to run, g14 1996

Hey guys,

I just got a 96 g14 from my father-in-law...it has been sitting a few years. Had to change the solenoid to get it to crank. Now it will run fine as long as I keep the choke pulled out. If I barely push the gas without choke, it will make it about 10feet and die. I can run it all day with the choke pulled. I messed with the air/fuel ratio but it didn't help. Got a clean air filter and all lines look good. Seafoam has always been ran in it, and I added some more when I filled the tank. Any suggestions or common issues? Thanks in advance!

Welcome! First unhook the air box hose ( at the carb), fold it out of the way and run it. If runs better, air box sealing problem (the 3 rubber straps or air box lid seal). If not, I would clean the carb ( look real close at the main jet) and also check the plastic carb manifold for cracks and the intake gasket between the manifold and the head. My guess, air box not sealed well. Good luck and keep us posted.

This just happened to me deer season. My fuel filter was clogged. Took it off and was able to run back to camp just fine.

Sounds like a simple carb cleaning should take care of your issue...
