Default The new 690cc Honda 24hp

Has anyone installed one of these new motors in there cart? I just had a buddy put one in and was having some problems. Apparently it has an electronic governor that sets the rev limiter off at 3800rpm. He was told to swap out the coils with a new set from an older style motor. When we did this it did correct the rev limiter but it may have caused cylinder no.2 to almost seize. We also did the gears in this cart from 12:1 to 6:1, in helping the motor last longer. Besides that everything else is stock. Will have the motor back from Honda Friday.

Thanks

Don Shields

BTW, this is a cool site, cant wait to spend some time and ck it out. I will also post up in the intro forum a big HELLO...

Did he change the valve springs, keepers, anything else??

Those motors are not real good above 3800 rpm unless you install the rev kit.

This newer motor has the heavy valve springs, stock. Were not trying to run it above 3800, just at 3800. That's why he put in the 6:1 gears, to keep the motor at 3800. This guy has done like 100 of these conversions, just not with this new motor. Hope this helps.

Also, we are thinking that the older style coils may have caused it to almost seize. Any truth to that? I wish I could of got the older style motor.
