How long should a charge last?
Almost 12 days ago, we got our cart back from the shop. It needed a new battery. We bought this used and it has a 6 month warranty.
OK. I drove it a bit this afternoon and then my 13 YO drove some. It seems the batteries went down quickly. After we got it back from the shop we took it for a quick spin and charged it. Then went took it out a time or two before a rainy spell set it. Today is the first time we have really driven it quite a bit which I really don't think was much. We leave it on the charger all the time. Anyway, how long and how far should a charge last? Thanks. |

Re: How long should a charge last?
15 to 20 miles depends on the cart and how old the batteries are. you said they put one new battery in the cart??, how old are the other batteries ??

Re: How long should a charge last?
No. It was a new battery to the cart. I would bet it was a rebuilt or used battery.
I do not know the dates on the other batteries. They are all four Club Car batteries. |

And for that matter, I would bet the rest are original batteries. I think I am answering my own questions as to the problem but I am still curious as to what distance and run time I should get.

Re: How long should a charge last?
There are going to be a lot of variables in the answer. Terrain, hilly or flat? 1 person or 4 people in the cart, etc, but a draw-down test for the batteries should be somewhere around 100 minutes on a perfect set of batteries....
You can request the dealer does a draw-down test and give you the results. |

Re: How long should a charge last?
How do you read the date codes on the batteries?
Positive Terminal- Manufacturing Date. This code indicates the actual date when mechanical assembly of the battery was completed. At this point, electrolyte has not been added to the battery and formation charging has not taken place. LETTER stands for the month and could be anything from A to L (A=January, B=February, C=March, and so on),; NUMBER stands for the date. Negative Terminal- Shipping Date. This code indicates the month and year when the battery was shipped out of our factory. LETTER stands for the month (see below); NUMBER is the last digit of the year. Example: A battery with "I26" stamped on the positive terminal and "J2" on the negative. "I26" means that the battery was assembled, without electrolyte, on September 26th. "J2" means that it was shipped from our factory around October of 2002. So this is #1 get the date stamps and post here ! |

Re: How long should a charge last?
2 have C6 on the positive terminal. The other 2 are rubbed out so I will assume I have to rebuilt batteries. I need to get this all in order. Sounds like I should spring for four batteries and just do it right.

Re: How long should a charge last?
Well at 5+ years old they are probably on the low end .
And U can't really rebuild them , only a manufacturer can do this Let us know what happens ! |
