Is there a conversion for 5k-0 pot box
I got a smoking deal on a controller, but my pot box is set up for 5k-0 and the controller is set up for 0-5k. Is there any way of changing the pot box by a conversion kit like the 36-48 Series ITS throttle Converter to 0-5k or do I have to change the whole pot box. This is for a 1996 club car.

IF you have an actual potentiometer there are ways to do this. Some pots are reversible, not all. New reversible pots are available but need to be calibrated & installed by a competent technician. New 0-5k pots are available but not sure they will mount up with your setup? DO you have pics?

Re: Is there a conversion for 5k-0 pot box
CC used that throttle box for 1 maybe 2 years and chit canned it. they are no longer available anywhere that I know of... opening that is opening a can a worms.... Unless you are a qualified mechanic with a good electrical background I wouldn't mess with it... resell your bargain and get the right controller.... It will save you lots of headaches and maybe some $ in the long run.... Who said that box was 5k-0 anyway? Check that output, I'm an Ezgo guy but I think that pot just might have been 0-5k... you can test the output with a voltmeter set to 20k ohms.

Re: Is there a conversion for 5k-0 pot box
Easiest is to convert to a Curtis Pb-6 speed control which is 0-5K ohms. It will take some linkage adaptation but unless you want to switch to a MCOR which would take all new pedal and linkage and still be stuck with 5-0K pot? As of last year the pot you have now was still available but of course very expensive and you would still be stuck with 5-0K pot.

although that POT has had issues, it works fine if you understand it, problem is most techs dont, and just want to change it out to something else.
That being said, I agree with OM, just change it out to a PB6 and be done and keep the controller you have. |

But, what if the old unit (0-5k ?) is still working fine? I know somebody in this thread knows what the output on that old unit is.

Yeah I think that is where we are at.
We need a test with the DVM (digital voltmeter) to see what the output is on that old unit.... and my thought now (second thought) is he has a match. |
