melted wiring??! Can this part be replaced?
look at the pics. The cart just died- showing 9.6 volts so its not charging. Looked under seat and found that the wiring coming from under the motor was very brittle and seemed like it had melted. It was not hot so it might be a long ago issue.
Its the 3 prong plug thingy. What is it? Can it be replaced? The wiring is cooked from the plug connection back to the motor- the other side is good. |

Re: melted wiring??! Can this part be replaced?
Got the cart to run- it sounds like it is not getting spark- rough constant cutting out. Also, here the strange one: My headlights are wired direct to the battery- they are glowing very dim. How this relates is beyond me!
Battery reads 6.7 when connected- disconnect and back up to 12. When running smelled burning plastic! Could not locate. |

Sounds like a direct short to me. You might want to check for exposed wires touching the frame or to each other. Just to get you started

Also you might want to check out the sticky on Yamaha wiring diagrams to find out what that three plug runs to. Just a thought

Re: melted wiring??! Can this part be replaced?
Found my black wire coming from the generator is also melted and slightly loose. I think thats the cause of that one! The 3 pronger goes to the rotor and pickup. And of course it is not in a user friendly replacement spot!!
The covering is gone and yes, the wires are exposed and touching. Looks like its off to Autozone for a spool of wiring!! Still looking for a why on the 3 pronger |
