Brakes lock up when wheels are bolted
I've got a Club Car DS that when the rear wheels are bolted down, the brakes lock up. Pulled the tires off and the brake drums turn over by hand with ease. It's only when the tires are bolted down that the hubs lock up. I pulled the drums off, checked the brake cables and everything looks good. Somehow the drums are rubbing when torqued down?

Re: Brakes lock up when wheels are bolted
It sounds like the drums aren't fully seated. Have you done a brake adjustment or replacement ? I had this when a customer adjusted the brake shoes and overdid it a bit on the adjusters. When he bolted the wheels on he had your issue. When the drums aren't fully seated the wheel studs cause them to deflect and nip up on the brake shoes.

You guys are the best, literally. I turned the square adjuster bolt sticking out the backing plate a half turn counter clockwise and it freed up the drums. Works good as new.
