Default Cart smokes when pressing on the gas petal

Looking to buy another cart and I'm trying to figure out what could be wrong with it before I make the hour drive to get it.

Seems like a standard txt cart, or started out as one.

The guy says it used to do 31 mph but it currently doesn't run and smokes when you step on the gas.

What could cause it to not move and smoke?

Thanks in advance.

I have no idea. I do know if it has a problem like that and he's asking more than about $100 for it, he could keep it.

It's a tough debate. The guy is asking $700, and the rear seat and rims would cover about $500 of that. It would be an easier decision is the carts didn't look so nice.

It can't not run AND smoke when you step on the gas. Presumably he means it used to smoke and now does not run. I read that as I drove this into the ground and now it is blown. I would not have thought he got 31 mph from the standard EZGO engine so if you buy this thing you should probably budget another $2000 for a replacement engine. If you think that you can recoup your investment by parting it out or if you enjoy small engine work then I say go for it. Otherwise let it alone
Just my $0.02

"small engine work"? Sorry I didn't clarify, it's electric not gas.

Where is the smoke coming from? I would sure find out! There are many parts and cables in an electric cart, that can smoke. It may be simple or quite expensive!

Is it a series cart or what? Depending on what you plan to do with it, you may just scrap what is in there and rebuild. Most likely it will be hard to tell you what is wrong with it until it is in your hands.
