Default 2009 G29 YDRE Yamaha Transaxle oil swap

Hello,

I was wanting to swap out the transaxle oil on my YDRE golf cart.

The owner's manual mentions only how to check the level.

I noticed that the YDRE golf cart has a drain plug underneath the "fill/check" plug and it has the same 8mm plug.

Is it difficult to perform this service? Can I use a skinny funnel for the refill?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

thanks!

take out the black plastic liner in the golf bag well if you will find a hole in the body directly above the fill plug so that you can get a funnel and tube in there. differential holds 44 ounces of oil. IMPORTANT--->be sure to buy gear oil with friction modifier in it, or buy friction modifier additive and put in the oil for the wet brakes. Yamaha part number for proper oil is ACC-SHAFTLU-00, friction modified gear oil. I like to include some Lucas HD oil stabilizer in the 44oz, makes any golfcart axle quieter.

Thanks CGTECH!

How many ounces of the Lucas do you think that I should use?

and it looks like the MSRP for the Yamalube is about 10 bucks a quart

Is that accurate?

Also curious what part of the Arizona you work out of (Yamaha service center) Phoenix or somewhere else?

thanks again!

25% lucas (11oz).

$10 sounds right.
IF you use standard gear oil, OR more than 25% lucas, get a bottle of "friction modifier additive". One bottle is 4oz (enough for one automotive axle), 2oz is enough for golfcart axle.

I did my in the fall. Had to take the bolts out for rear seat. You need a 8mm Allen I jacked it up. Put oil in with long funnel.

Or a squeeze bottle with a piece of tubing on the spout

Yup - I didnt read this forum first - my manual says 80w - I could not find 80w locally, so I picked up Valvoline 75 w 90 Limited slip api gl5. Would this oil cause any issues ? This is an 07 gas drive. Thx in advance.

I use the one quart gear oil bottle (has the pointed top) Don't need a funnel and don't need to remove anything as the bottle fits between the body of the cart and with the pointed top it goes right in the fill hole.
