Re: Lithium Conversion 48 volt system
So battery is installed but curtis controller is having problems. The citicar golfcart with a curtis 1268 controller and now nissan lithium battery has been upgraded from a lead acid 48 volt to lithium 56 volts. The vehicle will cut off at times. I looked at the default codes with a 1313 handheld system. The default code is Driver Overcurrent. Any advice.
Thank you |

I adjusted my Alltrax controller so the controller limits the amp draw that the motor demands. I get the same performance and longer run time. |

Re: Lithium Conversion 48 volt system
Thanks, that may be my problem. I actually increased the amount of current thinking this cutoff was the problem. As I understand it now, the controller can cap the current flow to the engine. It is set to 400, was originally 300, I will drop it back to 200.

Re: Lithium Conversion 48 volt system
Do you have the discharge current flowing thru the BMS? Only the charge current should flow thru the BMS.

Re: Lithium Conversion 48 volt system
Ok the problem was a loose wire B- going to the controller. All is well now. The main current did not go through the BMS only when charging. However the controller has cutoff for low and high voltage which should help prevent the battery.

Re: Lithium Conversion 48 volt system
One important feature of a good BMS is that the Hi and Lo is determined on every individual cell. This is important. The controller has no info on individual cell voltages so it can only do LVC based on the total pack voltage. Not good enough!
