Re: Western
Although I don't believe they are still manufacturing these, they are $15,000 new.

Re: Western
Yeah, and before it came off the trailer on the freeway.
I'm with ya. It was a nice cart in it's day and could be again but there is way too much to look past. Aside from to the M1 Abrams having it's way with the body, it has no batteries. Therefore, the seller has no way of proving the motor (or any other electronics) is operational. And although my father-in-law is and upholsterer, the materials would nopt be free. So what we have is a rolling chase with somewhat of a body. I think you guys are right. I might offer him half of what he's asking and keep my cart either way. |

And that's why I join forums like this.
Your advice served me well. He took $500 for it and I kept my cart. Now the work begins. |

Re: Western
Is that a spare cart roof leaning up against the wall in your garage?

I have a few questions about the cart already and I'm sure some of you will have the answers. It's got a GE Industrial 48V 7HP motor in it. Why does it have spots for 7 batteries? It's got 6 (probably 8V) and then one larger spot. 12V maybe? I know nothing about electric carts but something tells me I'll know everything about them before I'm through with this thing. Wiring diagrams? Parts? I can't find anything online. |

Re: Western
If I decide to build this other marathon I have here, or turn it into a trailer, I might need a roof.
Are you sure the other spot is only big enough for one larger battery, or would 2 cart batteries fit in it? If two cart batteries would fit, it may have had 8 6v batteries. I am pretty sure the Elegante's had a 7 battery 42v system, and an 8 battery 48v system (optional). |

Re: Western
Congrats on the new cart!
Based on the serial number it is definitely a yr 2000 cart. Does it have a VIN number on the driver's side top of the dash? The 7HP motor was optional, if it's a 48v motor, it's likely a 48v cart. They used 8x6v batteries in these for 48v. If you have trouble determining the voltage of the cart which could be 42v or 48v, try 2 things, get the voltage rating off the controller or pull the LED state of charge meter and get the part number off the back of it. Western used a 36v meter in the 42v carts. Body work is relatively easy if you are familiar with fiberglass repairs. Be careful with any trim pieces as they are not available any longer. Western has not produced any new carts since late 2006. Mechanical and electrical parts for these are standard EZGO TXT parts. The wiring diagrams are EZGO for the motor/drive system and the accessories are an oddball non-color coded, hand-wired jumble. Here's the original sales brochure: http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...elegante_2.jpg After you're done, this will be a beautiful cart and the envy of the neighborhood! Don't forget to post photos of your progress. |

Re: Western
ShortBusDriver, Did I see your EZ-Go listed on craigs? Smart move, sell it to fund the new project. I think you might be able to get more out of it than you're asking though, but right now things don't seem to be moving that well around here, unfortunately.
