I haven't had it back together to gps the speed yet "cart around" Yesterday I changed all the filters, replaced the fuel lines, replaced the spark plug (I found out when I replaced the plug that it had the wrong one in it that was almost twice as long as it should have been) Pulled off the driven clutch (slid right off when I took off the retaining bolt. No extra tool needed :) ) Everything looked good on the clutch, no broken spring, ramp buttons looked good too. And BBQ'd the muffler. Will put that back on when I get home from work and see what happens.

I wonder if the clutch could have been slipping on the shaft? I've never had any come right off..

I never thought of that. When I turn it by hand it turns the wheels though.

the loading on the drive will be a lot different while driving (As you drive the gear ration changes etc).. Its probably not slipping, but it is possible. It was just a thought.

Should be keyed to the shaft. Was there a square key in it locked between the two shafts? Is this a 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine?

I put it in the shed for the winter. It's a 2 stroke and I don't remember a key way. It's put to bed until spring when I can get the garage back from the wife.

No your correct !!! it is a spline shaft and if it slid off (Good For You) I've had some to be a bear and some to be nice like yours. When you get ready to install it be sure to replace the seal also. YES there is a rear end seal.

Finally got it back out. On a slight down slope but mostly flat surface it topped out at 17 but where it was level it only got to about 15.
