Does anyone know where a head can be redone at? New valves and seats?

Any engine rebuild shop should be able to fix you up, You may have to buy the parts for them to install. Before i went to all that Id make sure you have that governor working right

I'm pretty sure the governor is good. I turned it up a little right when I got the cart. It actually hit the rev limiter. I backed it off right away so it woildnt do that and shortly thereafter it had a significant loss of "get-up and go".

I called a guy near me that works on golf carts and he was thinking more a long the lines of something hanging up in the transmission or clutches. Said he didn't think it was an engine issue the way I discribed the issue to him. I really hate to pay a guy for something I can do myself but I am not real familiar with anything outside of the engine on these carts. Anyone ever have one of these transmissions apart?

Talked to another guy who says definitely the drive clutch. The weights/pins had a little play. He says that may be enough to make it not function correctly. Also possibly not sliding correctly. When I get it out of storage I will remove the clutch and get a better look at it. Does anyone sell a rebuild kit?

It can certainly slow your cart down if the CVT is not working properly. They tend to get zero care over the years because they are so durable, and they do eventually wear out. Should be plenty of threads in here about them in ezgo. If they get messed up the engine does not run the right rpm to make power like it should.

You can buy clones all over, harbor freight, home depot online, ebay, carol stream, Vegas carts, etc. They are 13-16hp and 420-440-460cc. All of them are a copy of the old honda gx390 390cc 13hp, the larger 420 or more cc are bored and or stroked more but the 420 is often the same price as the 390cc anyway and has a hair more torque which is good in a golf cart. If you get a $20 set of HD springs for the valves you can take the governor out (well you can anyway but eventually you can damage the valves if you rev it hard a lot, and it wont rev that high without better springs) and hit around 5K rpm which will give you well over 15hp and a lot more top speed. You do need to put a free flowing muffler on and maybe airbox and rejet the carb if you want to get what you can out of it. I would not recommend screaming it like that all the time but its great for a quick blast in speed. In a yamaha G9 stock with 22 tires would hit 30gps and 31 with a clone stock with no governor, but it got there way faster. Another cart same setup has hit 38gps with HD springs and other cheap bolt on mods but all stock block in the clone yet. Look in the clones section here under big blocks, people putting clones in all brands of carts. It can be a project, but is much easier now if you buy kits or mounts to help you out.

OK. I am really familiar with those clones. My kids raced gocarts and we ran the clones. I had different cams, billet rods, Honda pistons, and replaced the 8# springs with 28# springs to keep the valves from floating. We ran them at about 5800 rpm. That's almost more than what they should be ran at with the stock flywheel. What did you use for a motor mount? Do you have any pictures you could send me?

I did this when there were no mounts, Vegas carts makes them now. There is a lot of info in the clones section. I welded bars in and dropped the front to level out the engine due to the lift angling the cradle, though this is in a yamaha and I kept the stock mounts some do not. Think the mount is at bottom of this page:
