Re: 1999 speed and power problem
Just found out that the cylinder wall is scored pretty bad. Can I replace the liner or am I better off just scrapping this project? If I can replace the liner, where do I get one?

Re: 1999 speed and power problem
What *I* would do (and others may concur or possibly tempt You into doing it all yourself) is call Carrie at CT Rebuilds and swap that engine, scored as it is for one of their "375" engines at a cost of $625 (or just have them rebuild the same thing for $500-ish) ... The 375 will put You at around 14hp as versus the 9 Your engine *had* when it wasn't a mess, a huge difference for $125. Either way, if You haven't rebuilt anything before, the Fuji is pretty straightforward but still somewhat daunting for a first-timer, plus even a crap Chinese rebuild kit is going to cost You around $275-400.
There isn't a simple way to reline these that really is worth doing, and the drawback to rebuilding yourself in a garage is that it CAN be done easily unless the valve guides are shot, that will require a press as well as having it bored ... Trust Me. If You don't have a local "Golf Cart Guy" who can document and guaantee his (or her) work and will make the cart right for under abouit $850 - just call Carrie, do the swap Yourself |

Also, saving money can be VERY expensive when it comes to engine rebuilds, because when the cheap one fails, you still have to get a motor rebuilt, and often that cheap one was screwed up enough that you need to buy a core also. Tom |
