2000 EZGO Gas Speaker Placement
Hi all...
I've looked at available threads, I'm installing speakers either 5.25 or 6.5 preferable in the kick panel. I don't particularly like the speaker pod look. Has anyone done this that can provide insight (especially related to available space near the fuel lines and pump on the passenger side as well as the temperature)? Thanks! |

Re: 2000 EZGO Gas Speaker Placement
Just looked at my TXT and there is room on both sides.
Actually the passenger side has more room, you can always run longer fuel lines to get them out of the way for $8. Would have to use a thin speaker on the driver side or maybe put longer bolts and spacer on the plate holding the starter relay. But personal I don't think putting the speakers in the engine compartment would be the best place. Guess you could build some kind of cover over the back side of them. |

How will you protect your speakers with the back side of them being in the engine compartment? Oil, Dirt, Rain, all the stuff you find on your engine will be on your speakers.

They would have to be sealed pretty well.

Re: 2000 EZGO Gas Speaker Placement
Thanks!
I just talked to the guy from Rockford Fosgate, and he said the only component to worry about melting would be the solder and it would be several hundred degrees. He also said the environmental issues shouldn't be a concern either. I still think, like you said catfish, that I would like it sealed up well to be on the safe side. I was hoping maybe someone had tried this before. I don't want to cut for a dud job, but I really dislike adding the pods especially since I'm trying to keep the cost down. |

Thanks, still soliciting for prior experiences doing this though before I proceed! :)

Has anyone ever measured the operating temperature in the compartment?
