Not running with starting fluid would point me towards spark, or seals.

Got the cart in the shop, so now I can start diagnosis. Got the charger on the battery and pictures of how cables are routed. Ready to pull the carb but some basic testing first.

Agree about spark, but if no spark what would the cause be other than the coil? More used to a distributor.

Appreciate the help!

I would start with something simple like a new spark plug.

Let me relate a story. My cart has been running great without any maintenance since 2013. Two weeks ago, I was riding through the woods bouncing over some roots when it sputtered a few times. I thought that was strange, and started thinking about dirt bouncing around in the carburetor. I was ready to tear the carb apart, and decided to evaluate for a few days.

I noticed that I needed a little more choke on the first start of the day. It would crank a little longer before starting. That's something it never did before.

Crap, kids just came home from a long way......... It was the spark plug. More details later.

Wow!

I was also riding in the woods just before mine died. I checked for spark and it has spark but plug was fouled. Cleaned it up and have pretty good spark, but how much is enough?

This all started with air starvation and would not run without removing filter assembly. Ran with open carb for a few days so I think carb will do well with a clean. New gas filters and hoses, new air filter and new plug and give another try.

Old air filter has no number on it, so will need to research that.

Got carb off and it is a Mokini Corp unit. No numbers on it anywhere.

Is this a cheap Chinese part like I have been reading about? May be easier to simply get a new one than mess with it.

Advice?

And what's up with an Allen wrench to get it off? Engineering whoops!

It should be a Mikuni BV-18. I have only seen mounting studs, not Allen screws.

I was saving the part number for an air filter, but it got tossed. I bought it at O'Reilly's auto parts for $12. They looked in the book under EZGO, and Robins. It was also listed for Club Car.

To finish my story. I drove the cart for a few days to diagnose the problem. It started to sputter at full throttle. Going from reverse to forward, it would give a little pffft type backfire before starting.
I bought a plug, fuel filter, and air filter while thinking that I would be cleaning the carburetor too. I decided to change one thing at a time to see what really fixed it.

I changed the plug first, and it cleared up all of the problems. I think new is better than cleaning unless you have a sand blaster. Even then, cleaning doesn't fix a cracked plug.

Good information there. I have a carb, plug, and air filter on order.

Changed fuel lines new and two fuel filters. Charged the battery, had a drink, and grilled some burgers. I think that will do the trick!

I will post results when parts come. Again, thanks for the advice. Also, jacked up the back tires and the friggin oil started leaking. Always something.

Here is a picture of the carb. For sure a Mokini.

Back that camera up for a few engine shots. Let's see what you have there.

That is not the right carburetor. You should have a horizontal choke shaft.

Mokini wouldn't even come up in a google search. It kept pushing me towards Mikuni.

This mystery is getting interesting. Engine, exhaust, and body shots would help.

EDIT: I found a page from Venezuela that has Mokini, but couldn't read it.
