G1 engine mounts/dampners
anyone know if all 4 engine mounts are the same on a g1. I thought for sure i read somewhere on here there was 2 different sets one for the front and one for the rear. I could only find front ones but i found what was labeled as a complete set of g1 engine mounts on ebay but they all look the same.

Re: G1 engine mounts/dampners
I believe all 4 G1 mounts were the same. G2-G14 had different mounts front to rear.

Re: G1 engine mounts/dampners
Let's see some pics!
Would you mind sharing a link? I was planning on re-using mine in the swap as they are not shot but if they can be had for cheap I would consider replacing while everything is apart! |

Re: G1 engine mounts/dampners
I just rechecked the VGCP site and found an answer i had been looking for in their notes on the G1 engine mounts. turns out this mount is the same front and rear on the g1 it is Later model yammi's that use this same mount up front and a different mount at the rear!

Re: G1 engine mounts/dampners
Found what was causing the vibrations. The after market mounts have what look like a piece to keep you from tweaking the mount when tightening them down and this part stays against the frame so part of the vibration doesn't even make it to the dampeners(mounts) I'm not sure if the Yamaha mounts are like this but all the ones I could find are this style. I cut this material off and vibrations are gone.

Re: G1 engine mounts/dampners
looks like you got it figured out. the problem with these mounts is the belt is trying to pull the motor toward the clutch on the rear the g1 was pretty smooth the g2 thur 9 not so much on the g 14 they put a limiter cable on the front left mount ,without it you lose performance big time as the mounts get old. new style works much better.
