Default G2 Airbox suggestions

Just brought home a G2 1985. First cart.
Opened the seat and saw a bare carb.
Googled around the web and only saw a complete box setup on an auction site with a price almost what I paid for the cart. In other words a bit steep at the moment.
Anyone have any suggestions for any DIY box or perhaps point me in the direction of a used box?
Thank you
Guy

Try the buy/sell section here.

Unfortunately these engines are extremely finicky and it will never run right without the stock airbox. Even the lid being a little loose can cause it to bog out like crazy.

X2 to that.

I had a G9 here, and the engine had been completely rebuilt but it would only run in full choke. The culprit? One of the rubber latches for the airbox was broken and the lid was lifted up a little bit.

Well some sort of box / filter is going in there until I can find a replacement. The guy before was driving it with nothing on it...
Looked into 3d printing a box but have not found one drawn out yet....

Thank you

You can put a K&N type filter on it, but you'll wind up experimenting with drilling the jet to get it right...

I can look if I have another air box, but I won’t be home till Sunday night.
I’ll try to remember to check then.

If it had nothing on it and he drove it like that, I'd be very weary. Get a boroscope and look at the cylinder walls to make sure they arent scored from dirt and sand before going too far. Over boring these motors usually doesnt last long, and I'm not a huge fan of clone motors but it may be better off in the long run to drop one of those in.
