Default Yamaha oil injection rolls but wont start

Hi there I'm a new member. I have a yamaha golf cart that I can get to crank over, has spark but having an issue making it run. When i gry to start it it wants to roll backwards when it fires. Just picked up the cart and know nothing about it.

Find out what model it is, likely a G1 or G2/G9 are about the same and 4 strokes as are all later carts G14/G16/G22 are the popular models. Just google those numbers and look at images.

If it is oil injection it will be a G1 with the open cubbies and cupholders on top of the front body. The oil injection tank is on the driver rear wheel well. In that case it is not running but the starting generator system is working. If you have spark start looking for a fuel problem or compression problem. Good idea to start with a new plug they can foul and still look like they are sparking. It is possible someone messed up the wiring for the two big solenoids that run it, but unlikely. One is forward one is backward.

This is a g1 from what you just stated. I pulled fuel pump and carb, cleaned both. Lot of rust was in the fuel pump. I am pretty familiar with 2 strokes. Just not golf carts. I have a good blue spark. Plug should be ok but already plan on picking up a new one. This has a br9es right now it in.
