Default Too much play in steering on G1

Hi All.
I have a G1 that there seems to be too much play in the front steering.
I started off to check and top off fluid in steering box. Also made adjustment to the gearbox by loosing 10mm nut and turning in screw and then backing off a half turn. Seems better. But what I see is the splined shaft coming out of steering gear box that attaches to the tie rod assembly has way too much up and down play. Not sure if that’s normal or if there is a worn out component like a thrust washer or something.
All input will be greatly appreciated!

I found that packing the box with grease will eliminate some of the play in it.

The best adjustment you can get is gonna take more than the method you used. You will have to adjust it tighter until you just get a little binding when near "full steer" left & right. Then you will have to drive it to verify there is no binding (you will probably find some), then back it off little-by-little until all binding is gone. That's the best you can get with your current parts. The problem is that brand new replacement parts don't help much these days, I think their machining tools are worn out too....

Thanks CGTech. I took it for a spin and it did bind a scouch. I backed it off just a little more and feels good.
