start by rolling it over the secondary clutch, yes it can be a bit tough to do and a new belt will be slightly harder. on install put it on the primary first then start it on the secondary. after its started roll the secondary by hand, like I said it can be a bit tough.

maybe others have better advice.

Yes engine for sure running. Don’t laugh but which is the primary and which is the secondary?

Primary is on the engine and secondary on the differential

Here is a few pics of the drive belt. Thought it was interesting that it still had J17 printed on it. Is it possible original equipment?

That belt is pretty gnarly. I wouldn't think it's original, it says "Made in USA", probably says "Dayco" on it?

What is the width? A good belt should be 1 3/16" or more.

I got a new belt and it definitely needed one but I’m still getting the hesitation on engaging the gear box. Is it possible my primary clutch is not opening up fast enough at the start up lower rpms?

Also is there a fluid level check on this gear box?
