CP has been helping me out a bit and I just wanted to post this pic of the two new compression rings, he told me the one with the chrome edge goes on top. From the picture the ring on top is the one with chrome edge as far as I can tell.

Enjoy the rebuild! Did one last year on my G9, I followed the manual and had no issue. I also procured the same kit you got from Ebay, worked fine! Only problem I had was dropping some nuts and bolts during the put back together process. Are you pulling the engine or doing in mounted in the cart?

I have another G9 in the hopper also, runs great but smokes like chimney! You may have motivated me!! THANK YOU!

Do remove the engine for a rebuild job, you will be so glad you did. So much easier to do it.

I've had the engine out at least 3 times now for other stuff. I'll gladly deal with the ~20 mins to have the engine out and on my bench for the rebuild!

I'd say so! looks like the valve cover gasket was definitely leaking!!
