G16 won't start

Just thought I'd share this if anyone else has a similar issue.. a little long but..

Buddies' son's G16. Been smoking for a while (needs rings) but other wise runs good besides having to change plug occasionally.

Well last week it quit on him while running. I pull plug and it is bad oil fouled.

Change plug, still won't start (spins over but no start). Have GOOD spark.

Hit it with a shot of starting fluid, won't start. Pour a little gas in down into carb, won't start.

Spin motor by hand at clutch. Compression feels weak but not terrible (didn't have tester with me).

Begin to think motor finally gave up (maybe broke compression ring, valve issue or other) but no odd noise. Thinking time to go ahead and pull.

After removing air filter housing give it a try and notice throttle not moving.....

Accelerator cable broke at gas pedal therefore butterfly not opening preventing engine from starting.

That was the problem all along with the no start.. Now to replace cable..

Did pull engine to go ahead and re-ring it.
