How’s this plug look?
New bearings and rings standard size. I see recommendations from BR8ES to BR5ES. They didn’t have a 5 so I bought the 8. Less than an hour run time and it was backfiring and electrode looked like it had been in an oven so I took it out and cleaned up the BR4ES that was in it. This is 10 hours run time and runs great. Should I go up or down a heat range or be happy ?

Use the correct heat range according to the manufacturer's specs. Going up a heat range will do nothing for performance and could actually damage your engine.
Actually if you went up to an 8, you went down in heat range. NGK's heat range numbers are reverse. The higher the number, the lower the heat range. |
