The link does'nt work for me either but I searched and found the video here

Now I am not entirely certain but I will bet my left stone that the engine is not actually firing. It is cranking but that doesn't generate enough speed to pull in the drive clutch.

BTW That isn't a 79. Looks like 84 - 88

As someone who has recently had experience with a cranking, not firing, I 'm with Dave on this one. It doesn't sound like it's firing, just turning over real quick - had the same issue before my rebuild. There's really no comparison between cranking and running revs (and noise).

Maybe an outside guess, and based on the speed my 3PG genny uses, I'm guessing there's not much compression - that engine seems to be cranking real quick, which it will do with no resistance. Guess it's the usual checks - spark, compression, and fuel to see why it's not firing.

I'm having the same problem with my 87 Marathon. It began with a loud screeching noise from the drive belt. Replaced drive belt now it won't go at all. I thought it was from lack of fuel, (there was no fuel in the filter) replaced fuel filter, spark plug, still nothing.
If it is the clutch what's the next step?
Thanx.
