![]() Hi all! (post #1) Finally picked up a cart, 1998 Club Car 48v series with a rear seat, reconditioned in 2004, $800 (a good price I thought even though I'll need new batteries soon but more on that later). Now it's time to change everything on it... The wife says, "yeah, he picked it up for $800 just to sink $8,000 into it!" I translated that to mean my budget is now $8000, right? Right. So, I have a million questions and have been using the search feature endlessly but would appreciate any recommendations anyone can offer.
Question on lifts- I like the 6" extended travel lifts but it looks like it really stretches out the front track. Does a 6" a-arm lift stretch it out just as far? Who's got the best quality one or are they all about the same? I saw that some people had issues with the Jake's lifts. I'm not doing any heavy off roading so either one would work, just want something that'll last and not give me a 60' turning radius and a 6' track. Speed. It's flat here in Florida so I'm not climbing any hills and would like a better top end (30mph) with modest torque. Talking with other members has narrowed my options to two choices. A) switch to 72V or 2) Do an AC conversion. So, what am I getting myself into with a 72V system? I couldn't find a 72V converter to operate the lights, radio, disco ball, etc... I assume I would need one, right? What else besides the obvious- motor, controller, solenoid, charger, 4ga cables, ...?? So, who's done an AC conversion to a Club Car? This can't be an easy thing to do. I found an article on it here on an ez-go http://www.golfcarcatalog.com/index....archive_id=112 But what's the reality of it? Reliable? 2 million and an electrical engineering degree (I have neither)? So there's my $800 Club Car frame sitting in the garage. Any product recommendations would be great for 6" lifts, motors, controllers, and 72V or AC conversions. Thanks! |

![]() First of all Welcome to BGW! I'm sure you will find answers to all your questions here. I have a 6" Jakes lift on my cart, and its awesome, it came with everything to install, and good instructions. Its fairly straight forward, and installed in a little less than 2 1/2 hours. And that was my first lift on a golf cart. As far as electric carts go i don't have much experience with them. I'm sure another member can help you out!

![]() hey I live in Fort Pierce as for the lift if you are not doing major off roading I would just go with a jakes 6 inch spindle lift that is what I have and love it ans for speed a new controller and motor would be easier and as for a radio and stuff your best bet for good run time is a deep cycle marine battery
I will willing to help you out since you live near me |

![]() Thanks for the local shop tip, chevyrules (I'm in Stuart). Using a deep cycle battery for lights and radio sounds like the way to go- I have a Battery Tender on my dirt bike that should keep it maintained nicely.
I really like the look of the long travel suspension. Liftedwelding- is yous a spindle, a-arm, or LT? |

![]() Welcome Extractor,
You'll find plenty of answers around here,...I would take "baby steps" otherwise you may buy something you wish you hadn't! You can get real close to 30 and double your torque without 72 volts or an AC conversion. Upgrade motor, controller, cables, etc. I'll take you for a ride in my cart and you can make up your mind! BTW, If you want I'll sell ya my Jakes 6" spindle lift at a good deal. I plan on purchasing a long travel. Good Luck. ![]() |

![]() Cape Coral, FL from a lady who just wanted to get rid of it. Her husband passed away and she no longer had a use for it. A buddy of mine called up since he already had one and told me about it.
