Default Jerky Start, Jerky Stop

So I'm dealing with two different problems here. I have an 86 36V DS. When taking off from a stop, the cart jerks to a start. After that, the acceleration is smooth.

When stopping, it feels like the brakes grab pretty hard - there's really no way to smoothly come to a stop. I did add heavy duty springs to the cart because I installed a back seat. I'm not sure how to adjust the brakes, though.

Help?

So do you have the self-adjusting brakes or do you have the old style with the Nipple Cover on the back side of the hub?

Either way it maybe sounds like your brake cable could be a little short or too tight, in which since you added the kit you may need to loosen the anchor that's hooked to your brake pedal until there's just enough slack. (Like 2 , 1/2 inch wrenches are needed and it's directly under the floor board.

Also, it sounds like when you put the HD leafs in you must of loosened a connection on your motor, or controller, or solenoid. Double check for any loose connections.

And/Or your pack is getting a little weak as the most draw is on the initial throttle since that is where the higher amperage usually occurs to get everything moving....

I'm not sure which brakes I have - I'll have to check. It would not surprise me if the cable needed to be loosened a little because the springs did add a little height to the rear.

I'll check the connections - stuff definitely moved around back there.

The batteries are new.
