Re: Help! 1988 E Z Go Backfiring
I feel really stupid asking this, ... but I found the throttle cable setup on my used 1988 was causing backfiring by removing the throttle cable . The cart runs and throttles up and down via the foot pedal with the throttle cable removed! On jack stands, I haven't driven,... but WHAT is controlling my rpm's.! I am looking and looking, and i see nothing going to the carb to control my rpm's , I have a choke cable : not moving. I have a governer cable : not moving. And I have a butterfly disconnected from the control cable: so butterfly not moving. But I run the gas pedal and the cart strts and revs up and down controllably with the pedal!

Re: Help! 1988 E Z Go Backfiring
The carburetor is spring loaded open. By removing the throttle cable you set the carb to full throttle.
Moving the pedal up, and down is opening, and closing the pedal micro switch. That turns the spark on, and off. Keep doing that, and you will be changing crankshaft seals. |
