G2 primary sheave bolt
Hi,
I purchased a new drive clutch for my Yamaha G2 and in trying to install it I had trouble trying to screw in the bolt. It didn't come with a bolt so I used my old one. I put the in but it only went in about 1/3 of the way and wouldn't go any further. I didn't want to jam it in so I stopped. I'm not sure what's wrong. Any ideas? I checked it is the correct drive clutch. Any help would be appreciated ! Karen |

Re: G2 primary sheave bolt
Did you use a clutch puller bolt to remove the old clutch?
Old bolt should work with new clutch. Make sure crank threads are not messed up |

Re: G2 primary sheave bolt
Yes I used a clutch puller. I tried the threads and they're fine. The bolt doesn't even reach the threads it gets stuck in the new drive.

Re: G2 primary sheave bolt
The old clutch called for a J38-46249-00-00 bolt, the new clutch you have (G16/G22 style), calls for a JN6-G6249-00-00 bolt. I can check Monday if there is a differance in length. I guess you could use washers, as long as the plastic cap would still go on.
