Stopped while running
I have a 1977 EZ Go Gas 3 wheeler that I believe has a 1978 engine (maybe) but it was running along and then stopped running. It has gas, is getting gas and spark and has compression.
Is there a chance this thing's points died? I can't find where the points are at but am having a real issue and just want to get this thing running again. THANKS SO MUCH in advance for all of the advice. I could really use an owners manual but EZ Go says they don't have the right year. |

Re: Stopped while running
You say it's getting fuel and has spark and compression those are literally the three things you need for it to run how did you check spark and compression?

Compression with a tool from AutoZone (75) Fuel, you can smell it... Was wondering if it was the points and where they would be located. |

Re: Stopped while running
75 is pretty low if you have good spark than the points are working properly

Re: Stopped while running
I was told by my EZGO dealer that compression should be around 130lbs. I ran my cart with 60lb compression, but it had 0 power. Not even sure how it started up! They said carts stop running around 70lbs of compression!
After a rebuild of my 1986 engine, I am now around 120lbs of compression! |

Re: Stopped while running
I know that you are taking it to somebody, but this might kelp other people in the future.
Smelling fuel does not mean that it's coming from the right place. It could also mean that the lower diaphragm in the fuel pump is ruptured. That would allow fuel to flood the lower end. |
