Yamaha G8E Questions
For anyone with a G8E or access to one, I have a basket case i'm trying to piece back together. I just want to make sure the thing runs before I go through all of the tedious stuff of frame repairs, etc. I have a couple questions...
It came with 2 controllers. I can get them wired, that's not a big deal I know how to follow a diagram. But can anyone confirm what may be missing or which wires should attach to what bus bar inside it? It looks like something is missing to me... (pic attached). The left one has a bar that the right one does not, and all the wires are disconnected from both. On the pedal pot switch (pedal sensor) i have 2 of these. one reads from approx 60 ohms to 1.5k. The other reads from about 200 ohms to about 2k. I can't find the repair manual for this thing, can anyone advise what correct readings should be? I just don't like to replace parts without being able to positively condemn them. all the electronics for this thing came with it in a box, and there's doubles of half of them. any help would be appreciated! |

Re: Yamaha G8E Questions
Does anyone have a link to the G8 repair manual? I have the G2-G9 but it shows a wiper switch not a potentiometer like the G8 has.

Re: Yamaha G8E Questions
G8 throttle type should be 0-1k ohm. In the real world as installed on the cart the readings are usually approx 50-980 ohms.

Re: Yamaha G8E Questions
Awesome, thank you! Exactly what I was looking for. One of.these should be close enough to make it run/drive anyway, assuming one of these controllers is any good. You wouldn't happen to know if anything is missing off of the more complete looking one, or which wires go where on it would you? Worst case I'll just take my best guess and hope it doesnt start smoking haha

Re: Yamaha G8E Questions
Both are missing the large capacitor, where those bus bars that aren't hooked to anything. I wouldn't attempt to run it without one. I'll look to see if I have one laying around.

Re: Yamaha G8E Questions
Thanks, you've got all the answers I've been looking for!
If the yamaha controller is only 36v it wont play well with the 48v motor anyway so I'll weigh my options then... either suck it up and buy an alltrax and batteries and finish the cart right, or finish welding up the structural stuff and sell it as a half completed project. Seats and body are in excellent shape but not worth building for myself because its electric... which just doesnt work very well for me in my situation. Thanks for all the help though! |
