91 2-Stroke EZ GO Motor Rebuild Wont Start
I have a 91 EZ GO that I just rebuilt due to an oil pump malfunction that siezed the piston. Now if I could just get it running!
With it all back together it turns over just fine. It has good spark. It has about 60 psi for compression, which I assume is low? It is not getting fuel or oil (oil injection). We've put some premixed oil directly into the cylinder to see if it will pop off, and the result was it barely trying to start with a backfire. I'm going to check the fuel pump action now. Also, why is the oil pump not pumping when the crank is definatly turning it? Any help would be appreciated! |

Re: 91 2-Stroke EZ GO Motor Rebuild Wont Start
I recieved this cart from a coworker that had already had someone else tear it apart. I had him order an EZ GO Textron Service/Parts Manual which directed me on how it all went together. I mainly needed the manual to know which direction the piston head went on so I didn't mess up the transfer port. I'm pretty sure that is right as the manual clearly showed me the correct installation, so where else could the compression loss be? I did install new rings and a new head gasket.
What should the PSI be anyway? |

140 to 160psi is good, did you hone the cylinder, were there scratches in the bore.

Replaced the jug with a new one. All new seals as well.
I took off the fuel line going to the carb and turned it over and it is getting gas. At least I have one less issue. Still need to find compression leak and fix oil pump as the oil wont make its way up past the lowest point in the hose. |

if it were me, i would find the compression problem first and then unhook the oil pump for now and mix the oil with the gas so you don't smoke the new parts.

the head gasket or head is leaking our something happened to the rings when they were installed. i would bring the piston up past the intake and ex ports and squirt some oil in the cylinder and test it again.
