Electric fuel pump
I just swapped to a predator 420cc clone engine. I drilled the valve cover and put a barb in it for the pulse line. I have great pulse through the new fitting but I am not getting much fuel. I can only run wide open for about 20 sec before i empty the fuel filter and have to let it idle to refill. I am thinking about replacing fuel pump with an electric on. The local advanced Auto has an inline electric pump that is 2 - 4 psi is this big enought or am I asking for other problems trying to swap this out. I am looking for advise pls

Re: Electric fuel pump
I just had the same EXACT issue on a customers cart that we built with a stock 440. I tried everything, replaced the engine, replaced the carb, replaced the fuel pump, changed the hoses, etc. It ended up being a bad valve cover!
Boy was I pissed at myself. |

Re: Electric fuel pump
just make sure you wire it so that it turns off when you don't have the engine running or it'll puke fuel everywhere.

Re: Electric fuel pump
I used a fuel pump on a clone once and had to reulate the pressure down to .5 - 1 pound before it would stop overwhelming the float and flooding. Seems these floats are set up for gravity feed pressure.

Re: Electric fuel pump
The valve cover has a pcv in it, when it fails, it will bleed off all the vacuum at anything over idle.
They are chinese so they all will break eventually..good thing they are cheap! |
