"Help" Getting oil in my oil filter, cart won't hardly pull itsself
I'm new to this site and really need help. I have a 1986 Yamaha g2 Cart had been running good, installed a power kit, 4 inch lift and over sized tires. Went to use it today and it wouldn't hardly start, finally started but was sputtering and barely running. pulled plug and it was fouled. New plug run the same, got to checking found oil in the air filter. I use the cart a lot around my place, been fighting cancer for over 2 years and really need to get it running again. I appreciate any help, Thank you

I noticed that you have a lift, and that can affect how the oil level looks on the dipstick. Is is possible that you have more than just one quart of oil in the crankcase? If so, or if in doubt drain and then refill using only one quart of oil......

Good point to bring up flint. A lift will put the engine at an angle and the oil not regestering properly on tbe dip so many people overfill and the only place for the oil to go at higher rpms is in the air box from the vent tube.

If your cart uses a pleated paper air filter and it gets oil on it, it will act like a choke and run rich! Try running your engine without the filter in place (do this only as a test) and see if it runs Ok. Like was said before, check the oil by volume (not the stick) and replace the air filter if necessary.

I changed the oil, removed filter and cleaned out the oil, new plug.. Didn't have a filter so I test run it without one. fired right up but would only run with the choke on, still didn't have the power and speed it used too. Any ideas?

You need to get the correct filter and make sure the airbox is sealed up tight, then try again. The yammies are picky that way......
