Default RXV battery maintenance

I have been looking all over and keep getting different answers so thought I would ask here.. I am trying to do this correctly and I know how to do the series and PDS/DCS cables but how do you safely and correctly disconnect the battery cables on an RXV ?? In run or tow?, key on or off ? Seems like everything I have tried sparks like crazy when I hook it back up..

Thanks in advance

Any time you unhook or do anything with the batteries you want to have it in tow mode.

Def agree with Brad...always in tow, you risk frying the controller if left if run and disconnecting electrical

I would also normally agree but I have put it in tow and disconnected/reconnected and gotten sparks.. Not always but... Same with it in run.. These new ones are just strange so this is why I asked.. I may just build a small jumper to allow the pack to stay connected while I remove and clean posts..

you need to put it in tow, and the F/R in reverse and let the reverse buzzer sound until it stops, and then there should not be any more sparks, the controller holds power and needs to be released, before you do any thing
