I'd also double check that your hooked up correctly from the charging port to the batteries; make sure that you have continunity in the wiring as perhaps one is broken while appearing good.

You only need 32v for the OBC to close the charger relay contacts.

Where did You get that voltage reading? If You measure between the + and - at the charger socket, You should have seen about 42v as there is a voltage drop across the SCR inside the OBC.

The original 4ga cable that went thru the OBC also had the OBC negative wire crimped together at the controller B- connection, make sure it is still there.

Unhappy Re: my 48 volt charger and new charger not coming on no

i did check that all batteries are hooked up correctly. None are backwards. I matched all the wiring going through OBC to controller as well as charging receptacle postive wire going to battery 1 positive and charging receptacle negative going to battery six negative.

Again I am reading 47.6 across battery pack and 47. 3 at charging receptacle.
I haven't had a chance to charge the batteries separately and am still perplexed.

Here's the wiring diagram for your cart. I'd check everything and make sure all the connections are clean and tight

That is the problem, charger receptacle negative goes to the OBC.

Smile Re: my 48 volt charger and new charger not coming on no

Today I manually charged each 8 volt battery to about 8.1. When I finished hooking the batteries together I tested the entire pack and got a reading of 48.4 volts. I plugged the charger in and HOORAY it started charging!

Thank you all for the help/replies.

CCFanatic good call on the pack being to low for the charger to kick on!!!

. . . you may have gotten your charger to kick on, but the underlying problem is really not resolved . . . OBC should turn on charger if it sees 32v or more . . .

Question Re: my 48 volt charger and new charger not coming on no

Does that mean OBC not functioning properly?
